Foxwoods Casino Resort's Unbridled Spirit

 Jason-Guyot-CEO-Foxwoods-Casino-Resort

Yes, Foxwoods Casino Resort is one of the world’s largest, but it’s so much more than that, as CEO Jason Guyot explains. By David McKee

It may no longer be the biggest casino in North America — Oklahoma’s Win-Star now owns that distinction — let alone the world. (That’d be Venetian Macao.) But Foxwoods Resort Casino was the first of its kind outside Las Vegas or Atlantic City, not to mention the very first Native American casino ever. And it’s still the pace car for tribal casinos across the continent. It’s not so much a pace car as an entire fleet unto itself. Sprawling and massive, Foxwoods encompasses nine million square feet, six gaming floors and a staggering number of amenities.

Zitro President-International, Sebastian Salat, described this confident expansionism to Casino Life Publisher Peter White recently. Salat also previewed Zitro’s newest products and its presentation at ICE London. His conversation with White, which has been edited for clarity, follows.

Lodge life has come to Las Vegas. The Silverton Casino Lodge’s recent, $40 million renovation brings a Wild West vibe to the popular off-Strip property — a favorite gambling hall for locals and visitors who enjoy the outdoors.

The Silverton, located on Blue Diamond Road just six miles from the Strip, has had a solid following since its opening in 1994. A complete refresh of the 300-room, boutique hotel in a cowboy glam-style is bringing some new excitement to the property. Executives say they saw an opportunity to get creative and reinvent the property in the spirit of rustic elegance.

M Resort may be the Las Vegas casino nearest to California but it’s got its finger on the pulse of Sin City By Ryan Slattery

Located 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, M Resort Spa Casino is the first property people see on the drive in from California. It opened March 1, 2009 but growth in the area with the addition of training facilities for the Las Vegas Raiders and Las Vegas Aces has led the property outgrowing its small footprint.

A bigger, better Graton Resort & Casino relies upon new technological initiatives. By David McKee

California’s Graton Resort & Casino was two decades in the making. The tribal casino, near Rohnert Park in California’s wine country, opened on November 15, 2013. But the road to that debut was a long and winding one. The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria originally aimed to build on Sears Point. However, environmental and traffic concerns caused them to fall back on the Rohnert Park area, where civic leaders backed the tribe’s play.

Valley Forge Resort Casino is in Fighting Trim

Ron-Bailey-General-Manager-Valley-Forge-Resort-Casino

Valley Forge Resort Casino may be small by U.S. standards but, as Vice President Ron Bailey attests, it packs a wallop. By David McKee

Although outgunned by larger casinos in the crowded Philadelphia market, Valley Forge Resort Casino has always punched above its weight. The Boyd Gaming property, acquired in 2018, is part of a small subclass of Pennsylvania casinos. So-called “Class III” or resort-oriented properties are strictly limited in terms of slot machines and table games.

Yet, despite this, Valley Forge Casino – which lies immediately across the street from the national historic park of the same name – has always been competitive with the other casinos in the area. It recently surpassed larger Harrah’s Philadelphia in its monthly gross.
